Completely absurd (but of course funny) stop motion animation. It works very well in small frame sizes, and I could see something like this working well for a brand (if it hasn't been used already ... especially a food product).

Viral Video Hits Blur the Authenticity Line
The Guitar Hero 'bike' video is featured in this, which was done by agency Droga5 as a viral video. There's a running debate over authenticity, as not only the origins of the video become a topic, but also seeding practices are now commonly known. That awareness is often reflected in comments like the one that appeared on the GH vid: "What's up, viral marketing douchebags?"

Burger King's Whopper of a Virginal Search Slip-up - Advertising Age - DigitalNext
This type of thing was bound to happen soon. A good lesson on how inextricably linked search is to all marketing. Basically, BK (or their agency) didn't support the Whopper Virgins campaign with good SEO or SEM, and probably left a lot of traffic on the table.

Facebook greatly improves video usage
Vids can be HD, and play full screen. Few video sites offer a truly compelling reason to switch from YouTube, but HD support is big if quality is a concern.

You Don't Need Instrments To Rock
Viral video site for Disney Interactive's Ultimate Band game, for Wii. I saw these videos on Skateboard.com. 15 second spots. The vids are funny, but there's no reference to the brand anywhere on the site, and the site looks very (maybe intentionally) low-fi. “However, as media companies change their business model, putting more and more professionally created video content online, the audience - and related ad dollars - will increase dramatically.”

Playboy shedding DVDs in favor of online - Yahoo! News
They said 'Playboy shedding', hehe. The porn industry has often been cited as a trend leader in online commerce. In this case, I certainly think they're right. For the same reason records became too expensive to stamp out, and CD sales are tanking in favor of downloads, DVDs can't be far behind. With the ability to download HD quality content, and (knock on wood), broadband speeds destined to rise, this only makes sense.
On a related note, the numbers from Radiohead's little experiment are in. Score! Mashable has a good rundown:

NPR: '30 Rock,' SoyJoy, Product Integration, And Artistic Integrity
Speaks to the multi-pronged issue around how best to use product placement, what's too much intrusion, what's too little product representation etc. You have to see the 30 Rock example. Hysterical, although probably not a scalable example.
