From vinyl to CDs to mp3s to the cloud. If you've used any of the streaming services like Rhapsody or Pandora, you're probably familiar with how music in the "cloud" is actually more convenient than digging through files. Personally, I can't wait for Apple - and the industry players who get it - to roll this out.

RipDigital - CD to MP3 Conversion Service.
I'm surprised I hadn't heard of this service before, as it seems logical. It's $.99 for basic 128kps mp3s. $1.19 for the full 320kbs. And if you think about the time it takes ripping, then this seems like a great deal. Especially in mass volume.

Shakira's Stats Done Lie: Facebook/Ustream Music Video Debut Is A Hit
Artists are seeing the power of social media and now launching videos via Facebook and UStream. Shakira launched her new video on Monday this week. Artists are following where the target audience is and they are online, versus just watching MTV. Upload Your Songs and See If You've Got a Hit! :: uPlaya Artists
Interesting site that supposedly tells you if you have a hit song by analyzing the digital music file. Kind of like how Pandora works, only a bit more critical. Interesting idea, but not sure the A&R department can phone it in just yet.

Mossberg Interviews Moby
Really good exchange between the two. Moby indicates how far off the mark record companies are, and how much the business has changed. Most refreshing is his very simple approach to life. He's the anti-rock star.
